GitHub to LinkedIn Finder

Enter any GitHub username — see their public profile, then resolve their LinkedIn identity with LeadCognition.

Public profile is free. LinkedIn resolution uses LeadCognition enrichment (2 credits).

How it works

01

Scan recent activity

Paste a public repo. The tool checks public GitHub signals that show whether developers are actively evaluating it.

02

Weight intent signals

Forks, issues, freshness, and repo momentum matter more than passive awareness. Stars are useful, but they are not the whole story.

03

Read the score

Use the 0-100 score as a first-pass signal. High scores mean the repo deserves closer monitoring and contact discovery.

What the score means

70+

High intent

Strong public activity. This is a good candidate for deeper account research and developer contact discovery.

40-69

Moderate intent

There is visible activity, but it needs context from company fit, category overlap, and recent events.

<40

Low signal

Mostly passive or stale public signal. Track it if the repo is strategic, but avoid over-prioritizing it.

Frequently asked questions

What data powers the score?

The Astro tool currently uses public GitHub API data as a lightweight landing-page proxy. LeadCognition’s product scoring goes deeper with monitored repo activity and enriched lead context.

Why does the free tool not show every evaluator?

The free tool shows whether the repo has visible signal. LeadCognition is where you unlock names, companies, verified contact paths, and outreach context.

How GitHub to LinkedIn Resolution Works

Finding a GitHub user’s LinkedIn profile is the core challenge of developer-led sales. GitHub and LinkedIn are separate identity graphs — and most developers never link them publicly.

Step 1: Public Profile Lookup (this tool)

Enter any GitHub username above. You’ll instantly see their public profile: avatar, name, bio, company, location, follower count, and public repos. No sign-up. No credits.

Step 2: LinkedIn Identity Resolution (LeadCognition)

Click “Resolve Identity” to run LeadCognition’s multi-stage validation pipeline. It doesn’t just find a LinkedIn profile that fits — it actively confirms it’s the same human: career trajectory, professional context, industry signals. Same-name collisions are engineered out before a match is returned.

2 credits per LinkedIn match · 3 credits with verified work email · charged only on success.

Step 3: Verified Work Email (optional add-on)

Add the work email enrichment step to get their current professional email at their employer — verified against multiple data sources. Included in the 3-credit bundle.

Why GitHub Username → LinkedIn Is Hard Without Tooling

GitHub and LinkedIn use completely separate identity systems. There’s no public API that maps one to the other. Manual approaches:

  • Name search on LinkedIn — fails for common names, fails when developers use different display names
  • Bio keyword matching — unreliable, most developer bios are sparse
  • Google site:linkedin.com "github.com/username" — works ~30% of the time when the developer has linked their profile publicly
  • Email-based matching — only possible if the GitHub user has a public email (fewer than 15% do)

LeadCognition resolves the other 85%+ using proprietary enrichment pipelines cross-referencing commit patterns, professional context, and verified employer data.

What “90%+ Precision” Means

Precision = when we return a match, we’re right more than 90% of the time. We don’t guess. If confidence falls below threshold, we return no result rather than a wrong one.

Same-name collisions — a developer named “Alex Johnson” matched to a lawyer named “Alex Johnson” — are the core failure mode of naive LinkedIn finders. LeadCognition’s multi-stage validation uses career trajectory, employer context, and GitHub behavioral signals to eliminate these collisions.

Charged only on success means you never pay for a miss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I resolve LinkedIn profiles in bulk?

Yes. LeadCognition’s API accepts batch requests — resolve 50, 500, or 5,000 GitHub usernames in one call. Use batch deanon for volume workflows. The free tool above is for single lookups.

What if the developer has no public GitHub email?

That’s the normal case — fewer than 15% of developers expose their email publicly. This tool shows you their public profile regardless. LinkedIn resolution and work email enrichment don’t require a public GitHub email — they use a separate enrichment pipeline.

How is this different from the GitHub Email Finder tool?

The GitHub Email Finder looks for a publicly visible email on the developer’s GitHub profile. This tool resolves the developer’s professional LinkedIn identity and verified work email using enrichment data — it works even when no public email exists.

What data does LeadCognition return per resolved developer?

LinkedIn profile URL · full name · current title · current employer · verified work email (if requested) · confidence score. See the API docs for the full response schema.

Resolution uses publicly available professional context and enrichment databases — not LinkedIn scraping. We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and LinkedIn’s terms. All data is obtained through permissible enrichment pipelines, not unauthorized access.

How many free lookups can I do?

Public GitHub profile lookups (the first step above) use GitHub’s public API — 60 requests/hour per IP. LinkedIn resolution requires a LeadCognition account. Free tier includes 50 trial credits — enough for 25 LinkedIn matches. No credit card required.
